Plant Care Tips
Sunlight
Tolerates low sunlight or fluorescent light, but will thrive in medium, indirect light. Direct, bright sunlight should be avoided.
Maintenance
Water when top two inches of soil are dry. Water thoroughly.
Temperature
Does well at room temperature between 60°F - 77°F. Cold temperatures should be avoided.
Humidity
Prefers higher levels of humidity, around 75% or above.
Shipping Info
Free shipping on orders of $99+ within the US, including pre-orders. Orders under $99 are calculated at checkout based on size, quantity and destination.
When will it ship?
Live plants ship on Mondays and Tuesdays only, so they never sit in a carrier facility over the weekend. Supplies and pottery ship within 5–7 days; if they’re in the same order as a plant, everything ships together on Monday or Tuesday.
Cold-weather shipping
We only ship live plants when temperatures are 40°F or above. Below 50°F we include a free 72-hour heat pack and ship to arrive within 1–3 days; addresses that need more than 3 days in transit require an expedited upgrade. In the coldest months plant shipments may pause until it warms up.

Product Details
Have larger plants, or want to make larger clay arrangements, this is the terracotta piece you need! You can fit many smaller compact plants on this drum or a few larger plants. Have plants with tons of Keiki's or a creeping rhizome? Mount your plants on our Cylinders. Great for Vandas, Dendrobiums, Cattleyas and other epiphytes. The outer surface is ideal for rooting and the designs add aesthetic appeal and plenty of airflow for roots on the interior surface. These drums can be left standing on a bench top or can be hung from 4way vanda hangers for a hanging display or specimen.
Appx. Dimensions
*All clay items are handmade and will have slight variance in color, size and shape as there is no master mold used for these items. Sizes are approximate as Clay will shrink in processing.
Clay-pot buying guide
| Feature | Unglazed clay (our pots) | Glazed clay |
|---|---|---|
| Construction | Exposed clay surface, without a glaze coating. | A fired glaze covers some or all of the clay surface. |
| Moisture | Porous walls can absorb moisture and allow evaporation. | Glaze reduces moisture movement through the coated surface; drying depends on glaze coverage, openings and growing conditions. |
| Drainage | Glaze alone does not tell you whether a pot drains. Check the actual openings and keep them clear. | |
Our clay pots are unglazed. This terracotta drum is a bottomless mounting cylinder, not a conventional planting pot. Water can move through the porous clay and evaporate, making it well suited to direct potting, especially in wet or humid growing conditions. Drying still depends on airflow, watering and your growing mix.
Direct growing or cache pot? Mount suitable epiphytic orchids on the drum surface as described above. The bottomless cylinder is not a conventional media-holding pot or water-catching cache pot.
Choose by root fit. Allow room on the mounting surface for the current roots and new growth without forcing them through openings. Check the actual dimensions before planning an arrangement; handmade sizes vary.
Repotting. For mounted plants, reassess the arrangement when roots outgrow the usable surface, ideally as new roots begin growing. Moisten roots before gently loosening them; do not pull roots attached to clay or threaded through openings. Avoid disturbing firmly attached healthy roots; move to a larger mounting surface only when needed.
