Schomburgkia has been reclassified to the genus Myrmecophila. They are related to Cattleya, however most species can take much higher light levels. In South Florida you may often see these in full sun exposure.  Myrmecophila produce unique looking flowers in various colors. The species tibicinis produces large magenta colored flowers. Psuedobulbs are large and bright green. Protect from frost, but they can handle night time temps down to 45F. They favor warmer weather.
