Vanda (formely labeled Neofinetia) falcata is the original miniature vanda species. It was the first Vanda species to be grown as a houseplant in Japan, with records dating as far back as the 1600's. Since then, falcata has been crossed to just about everything and produced stunning primary and complex hybrids. They can be grown bare root in baskets or in Neofinetia Pots and sphagnum moss. The Neofinetia plays a large roll in Japanese culture, horticulture and is a go to across many breeding programs. They are fragrant, excellent for indoor or outdoor growing, extremely compact and have an exceptionally unique shape. Neofinetia collecting is a world all on its own within the Orchid hobby. There are even variegated Neofinetia species and hybrids, and others that produce colored stems or extremely long spurs. One thing is certain, once you start collecting you will not stop! The plants currently offered are in baskets, with several large blooming size growths. These are small specimen sized plants that will bloom prolifically in proper conditions.
