Plant Care Tips

Sunlight Bright, filtered light (2,000–3,500 fc). Can tolerate some morning direct sun. Leaves should be medium green.

Temperature Intermediate to warm: 55–90°F (13–32°C). Soft cane dendrobiums benefit from a cool, dry winter rest to trigger blooming.

Water Thoroughly when medium approaches dryness (every 4–7 days in active growth). Reduce watering in winter for soft cane types. Good drainage is essential. Water at the base of the plant to avoid leaf spotting.

Nutrition Fertilize weekly, weakly. Generally 1/4 - 1/2 tsp per gallon, per week.

Shipping Info

Free shipping on orders of $99+ within the US, including pre-orders. Orders under $99 are calculated at checkout based on size, quantity and destination.

When will it ship?
Live plants ship on Mondays and Tuesdays only, so they never sit in a carrier facility over the weekend. Supplies and pottery ship within 5–7 days; if they’re in the same order as a plant, everything ships together on Monday or Tuesday.

Cold-weather shipping
We only ship live plants when temperatures are 40°F or above. Below 50°F we include a free 72-hour heat pack and ship to arrive within 1–3 days; addresses that need more than 3 days in transit require an expedited upgrade. In the coldest months plant shipments may pause until it warms up.

Dendrochilum wenzelii- Red Form

Product Details

Dendrochilum wenzelii red form is a hard-to-find color form of this Philippine chain orchid. As it matures it sends up multiple arching spikes of tiny, tightly packed brick-red flowers, creating a spray of red over grass-like green foliage.

Native to Philippine forests, this species grows warm (60–90°F) and does not like to dry out. Pot it in a fine, moisture-retentive mix and top-dress with live moss to help hold even moisture; give bright, filtered light.
