    Vandachostylis Kouishiro Ikai (often listed as Koushiro Ikai) is a classic 1992 cross by Five Friendships of Vanda Prachit Gold × Rhynchostylis gigantea. From its foxtail-orchid parent it inherits dense, rounded sprays of coral-red to salmon flowers and a spicy-sweet fragrance, carried on a compact plant that fits a small collection.

    Rhynchostylis gigantea grows in the hot lowland forests of Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and Borneo and blooms in the cooler, drier season, so this hybrid appreciates warmth (65–95°F), bright filtered light and a slightly drier rest after flowering. A basket or mount with fast-drying roots suits it best.
