Plant Care Tips

Sunglight Low to moderate, filtered light (800–1,500 fc). No direct sunlight; similar to Phalaenopsis light levels.Although multiflorals can take brighter light.

Temperature Intermediate: 55–80°F (13–27°C). Mottled-leaf types prefer warmer; solid green-leaf types tolerate cooler temps.

Water Keep medium slightly moist but never waterlogged. No pseudobulbs means less drought tolerance. Never let water sit in the crown.

Product Details

Paphiopedilum QF Kalipa (Paph. Vexillarium × Paph. fairrieanum), registered by Quintal Farms in 2024, crosses the classic Vexillarium back to fairrieanum. Flowers lean toward the true species — a white-and-rose dorsal striped in green and purple, with the signature upswept, wavy petals — but on a plant that's easier to grow and bloom, with attractive mottled foliage.

Paph. fairrieanum comes from limestone slopes of the eastern Himalayas (Sikkim, Bhutan, Assam), so give intermediate temperatures (55–85°F), moderate light and evenly moist, calcium-supplemented bark. Hybridized by our licensed partner nursery in Hawaii and finished in our Florida greenhouse, so it arrives acclimated to warm climates.

Blooming size — photos are representative of the plant size and maturity available. Mature plants in 4" pots with 1–2 new growths started; orders are filled with flowering or in-spike plants when available.
