Pair it with a clay pot
Smooth-wall bowls hold moisture a little longer, a good match for this plant; side-hole pots dry faster. Adds to your cart, no page change.
Plant Care Tips
Sunlight Low to moderate, filtered light (1,000–2,000 fc). Avoid direct sun; dappled shade works best.
Temperature Intermediate to warm: 58–85°F (14–29°C). Most species prefer consistent warmth with high humidity.
Water Keep evenly moist—never let the medium dry out completely.
Maintenance High humidity (70–90%). Prefers shallow pots or mounts with sphagnum. Tree Fern Fiber is also an excellent option.
Shipping Info
Free shipping on orders of $99+ within the US, including pre-orders. Orders under $99 are calculated at checkout based on size, quantity and destination.
When will it ship?
Live plants ship on Mondays and Tuesdays only, so they never sit in a carrier facility over the weekend. Supplies and pottery ship within 5–7 days; if they’re in the same order as a plant, everything ships together on Monday or Tuesday.
Cold-weather shipping
We only ship live plants when temperatures are 40°F or above. Below 50°F we include a free 72-hour heat pack and ship to arrive within 1–3 days; addresses that need more than 3 days in transit require an expedited upgrade. In the coldest months plant shipments may pause until it warms up.

Product Details
Bulbophyllum lobbii, described by Lindley in 1847 and named for Victorian plant hunter Thomas Lobb, is one of the largest-flowered species in the genus. Each new pseudobulb produces a single bloom 3 to 4 inches across in warm gold to apricot-orange, often finely striped, with a hinged lip that rocks at a touch. Flowers carry a light fragrance in summer.
Native to Malaysia, Borneo, Indonesia and the Philippines from 650 to 6,500 feet, it adapts to a wide temperature range (55–90°F). Give bright, filtered light, regular water and fertilizer, and a mount or wide, shallow pot for its spreading rhizome; avoid water sitting on new growths.
