Temperature Intermediate to warm: 58–85°F (14–29°C). Most species prefer consistent warmth with high humidity.

Water Keep evenly moist—never let the medium dry out completely.

Maintenance High humidity (70–90%). Prefers shallow pots or mounts with sphagnum. Tree Fern Fiber is also an excellent option.

Shipping Info

Free shipping on orders of $99+ within the US, including pre-orders. Orders under $99 are calculated at checkout based on size, quantity and destination.

When will it ship?
Live plants ship on Mondays and Tuesdays only, so they never sit in a carrier facility over the weekend. Supplies and pottery ship within 5–7 days; if they’re in the same order as a plant, everything ships together on Monday or Tuesday.

Cold-weather shipping
We only ship live plants when temperatures are 40°F or above. Below 50°F we include a free 72-hour heat pack and ship to arrive within 1–3 days; addresses that need more than 3 days in transit require an expedited upgrade. In the coldest months plant shipments may pause until it warms up.

Product Details

Bulbophyllum Pride of Papua (Bulb. cruentum × Bulb. phalaenopsis), registered by W. Tjiasmanto in 2022, is a bold, exclusive hybrid of two New Guinea species. Broad, leathery leaves rise from plump pseudobulbs, and flowers come in deep purple-red to near-black, textured and fleshy, with the pungent, fly-attracting scent inherited from Bulb. phalaenopsis.

Both parents grow in hot, humid New Guinea lowland forests, so give warm temperatures (65–95°F), bright filtered light, high humidity and steady moisture. Our plants grow in 6" baskets of sphagnum.

Near blooming size with multiple growing points — photos are representative of the plant size and maturity available. Move it into one of our 8" clay pots (sold separately) and grow a specimen in no time.
